Thanks as always to Seán for keeping track of proceedings of last night's match!

Last night our seniors hosted our comharsana (neighbours) from St Malachy’s in the final round of Sraith Ard Mhacha (the Armagh League). The match was preceded by a minute’s silence in memory of the late Rose Maher and Colum McConville. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamnacha.

St Malachy’s hit the opening score of the game just 15 seconds after the caitheamh isteach (throw-in), but the foireann baile (home side) answered emphatically with a cúl (goal) almost immediately with Colm McCavigan gathering a long ball in from Tam McKavanagh and finishing to the net. The goal was followed up by scores from Paddy Kane, 2 Kane Laverty frees and dhá chúilín (two points) from Conor Carabine, one from a 65. St Malachy’s hit a couple of points before Tam McKavanagh got his first of the evening. The men from Port an Dúnáin (Portadown) added another couple of frees before Conor Carabine wrapped up the first half scoring with two more.

Kane Laverty hit the opening cúilín of the second half right from the off and the Treacys confirmed their dominance with cúl uimhir a dó (goal number 2) scored by Caolán Maher. Tam McKavanagh hit his second point of a game before a great move by the hosts saw Kane Laverty breaking the cosaint (defence) to add to his tally. Tam McKavanagh added another before the cuairteoirí (visitors) got off the mark for the second half. They followed that up with a couple more points. But another cúl for Colm McCavigan who kicked to the net killed off any hopes of a comeback. Kane Laverty got another couple of scores and Ryan Stewart chipped in with a point to ensure a win for Seán Treacys.

Míle buíochas (Huge thanks) to all of our volunteers on the evening and to our lucht tacaíochta (supporters) whose encouragement is never taken for granted. Buíochas fosta to the réiteoir (referee) Damien Shields and to the players and management from St Malachy's.
