The games are coming thick and fast for our seniors and last night saw them head to Camloch to face Craobh Rua in Sraith Ard Mhacha (the Armagh league).
It was the worst possible tús (start) for Treacys conceding two goals in the opening minute. A converted free from Anthony Carville settled the nerves and after a Craobh Rua point, Sean Treacys had their own scoring spree. Carville drilled a poc saor (free) to the net and followed up with a pointed free. Finty Coleman hit our second cúl (goal) and a further free from Carville and one ón imirt (from play) for Tam McKavanagh gave the visitors a three point lead. Craobh Rua responded with a couple but scores from play from Carville and Paddy Kane kept the lead. Craobh Rua hit back with three i ndiaidh a chéile (in a row) and the first half scoring was wrapped up deep into time added on (after Finty lost his hurl 😂) with another free from Anthony Carville.
Craobh Rua hit the ground running in the dara leath (second half) with 1-4, the cúl (goal) coming just a minute in. Seán Treacys continued to battle and scores were traded over the next 15 minutes, with Tam McKavanagh getting trí chúilín (three points) and Anthony Carville 0-2 from frees. Similar to the first half, Craobh Rua finished stronger with a consecutive 0-3. Ryan Stewart hit a good score and with time almost up.the hosts got their fourth goal of the evening to run out 4-19 to 2-14 winners.
The scoreline doesn’t do justice to the Seán Treacys performance aréir (last night) and they will hope to bounce back next Tuesday with a home tie to Naomh Éanna from An Ómaigh (Omagh).
