Yesterday morning our seniors hosted Baile na Lorgan (Castleblaney) in Tannaghmore Gardens in the Ulster and Louth Cú Chulainn League.
After an early start and a long journey, the cuairteoirí (visitors) made a bright start controlling the first half and racking up 0-4 in both quarters. A cúl (goal) midway through the half confirmed their dominance with the home side depending on dead ball iarrachtaí (efforts) from Anthony Carville.
Scór leath ama (Half time score):
Seán Ó Treasaigh 0-3 Baile na Lorgan 1-8
Sean Treacys came into the dara leath (second half) in flying form with Anthony Carville hitting the first score 10 seconds after the restart. A Carville free rebounded off the post and Cian O’Sullivan was on hand to gather the sliotar and bury to the net. Blaney responded with a couple of points and Carville hit another poc saor (free), but a great ball in from Barry McDonald was caught by Rhys Sloan, who passed to Decky Maher to finish for our second cúl of the game. The visitors responded with another couple of points and a free from Anthony Carville brought his tally to 0-6. That was as good as it got for the Treacys as Castleblaney piled on the pressure and added two goals in the last 15 minutes to run out comfortable winners in the end.
Scór deiridh (Full time score)
Seán Ó Treasaigh 2-6 Baile na Lorgan 2-19
Míle buíochas le Baile na Lorgan as an turas a chur orthu. Thanks to Castleblaney for travelling up, to the réiteoir and our own oibrithe deonacha (volunteers) who set up the pitch and officiated.
