Another Wednesday morning, another match report from Seán. Where would we be without him?
The senior hurlers were back i mbun imeartha (in action) last night following a couple of week’s break. They had a short journey across to Port an Dúnáin (Portadown) to play Naomh Maoileachlainn at The People’s Park.
Sean Treacys hit the ground running with eight scores in the opening 10 minutes, including two pocanna saora (frees). Anthony Carville hit three, Kane Laverty two and there was one apiece for Paddy Kane, Cian O’Sullivan and Conor Carabine. St Malachy’s opened their account on 13 minutes with another Anthony Carville free cancelling it out shortly after. The foireann baile (home team) then had a bit of a purple patch with 5 points in less than three minutes. Our cosaint (defence) regained their foothold and Seán Treacys finished the half strongly. Adam Lennon hit a cúilín (point) before Reece Magee set him up to fire in the opening goal just a minute later. The goal was followed up by a good effort from Cian O’Sullivan and a converted free from Carville to leave the scór leath ama (half time score) Seán Ó Treasaigh 1-12 Naomh Maoileachlainn 0-6.
