The seniors were back in action aréir (last night) with another home game at Tannaghmore Gardens against Cú Chulainn CLG from Ard Mhacha. With a couple of gortuithe (injuries), the starting team seen a few personnel and positional switches from An Domhnach (Sunday).
The first half was a close affair with both sides matching each other for scores. Decky Maher took over the dualgas (duty) of taking frees and opened the scoring. Further scores from Maher from pocanna saora (frees) and one from play for Adam Lennon were answered each time by a cúilín (point) from the visitors. Cú Chulann’s did take the lead on 10 minutes and it was Sean Treacy’s then who were catching up. Adam Lennon provided another good iarracht (effort) from play and the accuracy of Decky Maher from the dead ball kept the home side in touch. Cú Chulainn’s managed to increase the margin and a couple of great saves from cúl báire (goalkeeer) Caolán McCann ensured the gap at leath ama (half time) was just 3, with the score 0-14 to 0-11.
Cú Chulainn’s got the first couple of scores of the second half, but again Decky Maher was cruinn (accurate) with his frees and kept the Treacys in the hunt. Tam McKavanagh got his first score after 10 minutes and another converted free followed two consecutive Cú Chulainn’s efforts. With 15 bomate (minutes) to go, the score was 0-16 to 0-20, but it’s then that the visitors took control and began to get the lámh in uachtar (dominate), reeling off 9 consecutive scores. An injury time free from Tam McKavanagh rounded up the Seán Treacys’ scores.
Míle buíochas (many thanks) to Cú Chulainn’s for travelling down to Gairdíní na Tamhnaí Móire (Tannaghmore Gardens), to the réiteoir Paul Boylan and to the volunteers who officiated and lined out the pitch. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to those who unfortunately picked up injuries over the last couple of games. Go raibh sibh ar ais ar bhur seanléim arís.
